Whoota Whoota Lookout

Whoota Whoota Lookout sits high in Wallingat National Park on the North Coast, accessible by car via an unpaved dirt road from Sugar Creek Road (off The Lakes Way). The views sweep across the park's eucalypt forests in one direction and out to Wallis Lake and the rugged coastline in the other. It's a popular spot for photography and picnicking — there's a table and seats available. The final stretch of road has steep sections, so a vehicle with reasonable clearance is recommended, especially after rain. Phone reception can be patchy, so plan ahead.

Drive via The Lakes Way to Sugar Creek Road — approximately 17km on unpaved dirt road to the lookout. The final sections include steep inclines and anti-erosion humps; a vehicle with good clearance is recommended. Avoid Google Maps directions as it may route you via Freshwater fire trail, which is a more difficult 4WD track. Phone reception is unreliable; plan your trip with weather conditions in mind.
